Oxygen and light are the two enemies of an oil, and both of them get in through the packaging. Bag-in-box, high-barrier pouches and labels that survive an oily bottle.
An extra virgin olive oil is a perishable product that most people treat as a pantry staple. Oxygen oxidizes it, light accelerates the reaction, heat accelerates it further, and by the time it tastes rancid the consumer has already blamed the brand rather than the clear plastic jug it came in.
Bag-in-box is arguably the best format available for oil: an EVOH bladder excludes oxygen, the printed case excludes light entirely, and the bladder collapses so no headspace forms as the oil is used. For foodservice, where a five- or ten-litre pack may be open for weeks, the difference is not subtle.
For retail formats we supply high-barrier pouches, labels for glass and tin, capsules and pour fitments. The label detail that matters most here is the adhesive: oil migrates, and a label that was fine on a dry bottle will lift at the edges after three weeks on a bottle that has been poured from.
The families this sector orders most often — and any of them can travel on the same purchase order.

For an open pack, decisively — the bladder collapses so no air replaces the oil you pour, and the case blocks light completely. Dark glass slows light damage but does nothing about the headspace that grows every time you use the bottle.
Because oil migrates down the glass and under the label edge, and a general-purpose permanent adhesive is not formulated to resist it. We specify an oil-resistant adhesive and, where the bottle is handled wet, a film face rather than an uncoated paper.
Yes. Harvest-dated labels are a classic digital print job: no plates, quick turnaround, and you can carry the vintage on the label without committing to a year's inventory.
